Electrical Safety for Domestic and
Homeowners or landlords should ensure the
electrical installations within their property are
legally compliant with the Building Regulations.
Applicable to building work in England and Wales, the
Building Regulations set standards for the design and
construction of buildings to ensure the health and
safety of people in or around the buildings in question.
In Scotland, equivalent regulations apply through the
Building (Scotland) Act 2003.
The electrical regulations came about as a result of the
number of deaths and accidents in and around the home
Over time modifications to your home such
as new kitchens, bathrooms, electrical sockets etc may
mean that your electrical system is no longer up to
date. As a result it might not be capable of carrying
all the load and amount of circuits it was designed for
when it was originally installed.
