Electrical Safety for Domestic and Commercial

Homeowners or landlords should ensure the electrical installations within their property are legally compliant with the Building Regulations.

Applicable to building work in England and Wales, the Building Regulations set standards for the design and construction of buildings to ensure the health and safety of people in or around the buildings in question. In Scotland, equivalent regulations apply through the Building (Scotland) Act 2003.

The electrical regulations came about as a result of the number of deaths and accidents in and around the home

Over time modifications to your home such as new kitchens, bathrooms, electrical sockets etc may mean that your electrical system is no longer up to date. As a result it might not be capable of carrying all the load and amount of circuits it was designed for when it was originally installed.

17th Edition of The IEE Wiring Regulations

The 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2008) was published in January 2008, and came into effect on the 1st July 2008. All commercial, domestic and industrial wiring installations must be designed, constructed, inspected, tested and certificated to meet the requirements of BS 7671: 2008.

Nimbus Meters will assist all customers with the new electrical regulations, providing the right solutions to ensure electrical safety and compliance with the regulations.
